This delicate, floral twist on a Martini substitutes vermouth for umeshu, a Japanese plum wine. Ota Shuzo Dokan’s Umeshu is a joyous delight to drink. Made with one year-old sake instead of shoju, and then elevated with the maceration of ume plums and korizuta sugar, to drink it is a luxurious experience. It brings a floral sweetness to the gin and makes for one hell of satisfying drinking experience.
- 60ml Horisumi Autumn
- 5ml Ota Shuzo Dokan Umeshu
- Twist of pomelo
In a large mixing glass add ingredients and ice and stir until chilled. Strain into a chilled Martini glass, twist the oils from the skin of the citrus over the surface of the drink (lemon will do, we use pomelo) and serve.
