Archie Rose founder, Will Edwards, always had a passion for spirits, experimenting with homebrew, spirit-based infusions and oak maturation whilst reading up on the chemistry and engineering that underpins distillation whilst at Sydney Uni. After an early career in management consulting Will left his corporate job at Deloitte travelling to New York and Tasmania to answer the question that had intrigued him for many years – why weren’t there more distilleries in Australia? Fast-forward to 2014 and Archie Rose opened its doors in Rosebery, Sydney, and has since become Australia’s most highly awarded distillery winning over 400 global awards for crafted Australian whisky, gin, vodka, rum and tailored spirits experiences.

This desire to create spirits that are distinctly Australian is what has set in motion our ethos of ethically sourcing Australian ingredients direct from growers across the country to create exceptional products with natural and native ingredients.

The doors to the Archie Rose Bar & Cellar Door swung open in March 2015 and as our original home. Our venue also provides such an incredible opportunity to bring together hundreds of thousands of people every year into the world of spirits and give them the opportunity to make their very own Australian gins and whiskies on site, leaving with a greater understanding and appreciation of what goes into making great Australian spirits.

In 2020 we moved to our Botany distillery, designed and literally built from the ground up by Will and master distiller Dave Withers. From the mash filter which allows us to process heavily roasted locally grown malts and even some unmalted native Australian grains to the copper vacuum botanical stills which allow us to completely eliminate the detrimental impacts of heat and cold distil our botanicals which yields far greater clarity of flavour the Botany Distillery is the physical representation of who we are as distillers.

As we approach our our tenth year since launch we're extremely proud to be Australia's most highly awarded distillery, making spirits that are evolving Australia’s rich history in distilling to forge an authentic new tradition that’s boldly innovative and true to its roots.

Earning B Corp certification has been years in the making. From our very first bottle of distilled spirits, our grain-to-glass ethos has always been a part of our mission. Now, we have a badge to wear proudly to ensure we continue to meet these benchmarks day in, day out. We were assessed across five key impact areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customer that required us to provide rigorous, evidence-based responses across more than 250 assessment criteria.
