Pre-Batched Cocktail Jugs You'll Actually Want to Serve this Party Season

If you want to spend your time enjoying your next BBQ without having to keep fixing your guests drink after drink, we recommend doing the hard work beforehand, and enlarging the serving size. These drinks all have just a handful of ingredients and they're all pretty easy to find, so you only need to visit your local supermarket and bottle shop once.

Keep a few litres of your punch in the fridge and then top up your jug throughout the day. Using larger ice will slow your dilution (as will having a cold-batched cocktail to begin with).

We've also come up with a few handy hints for serving drinks at a party here.

Virgin Punch

With a limited amount of Virgin Cane Spirit left, grab a pineapple and enjoy this summery serve before it's too late.

Ingredients:

Method:

Build all ingredients over ice. Garnish with monkeys, umbrellas, a fedora maybe? Or if you wanna be a bit classier then some pineapple fronds and slices of lovely fruit.

White Sangria

This Spritz is a spin on a White Sangria, with some lovely crisp summer fruit. We opted for apple slices and mint but you can play with this quite happily. The chestnut liqueur gives rich depth to what is otherwise quite a straight up Spritz.

Ingredients:

Method:

Build all ingredients over ice. Top with soda. Garnish with mint leaves and a couple of apple slices.

White Rye Iced Tea

Move over, Long Island Iced Tea, White Rye Iced Tea is coming in hot this summer. Depending on your tea bags you'll need to adjust the taste with the sugar and lemon balance. Otherwise this is a very simple balance and a refreshing, if slightly naughty, iced tea.

Ingredients:

  • 300ml Archie Rose White Rye
  • 600ml cold brewed earl grey tea*
  • 200ml lemon juice
  • 100ml sugar syrup (1:1 ratio)
  • 150ml soda

Method:

Build all ingredients over ice in a pretty jug. Top with soda. Garnish with lemon wheels and peaches.

*To make the cold brewed ice tea, immerse tea bags in cold water. Leave for three minutes.

Negroni

Ah, the Negroni. If you haven’t had one, you must. You’ll probably hate it. What you must do in this scenario is give it a second chance, you won't regret it.

Ingredients:

Method:

Combine all ingredients in equal parts. Insert orange wheels, wedges or twists (whatever you fancy), grab a few buddies, some paper straws and drink responsibly.

Australian Sling

This is a delicate balance with a strong Australiana accent. The eucalyptus syrup is really easy to make and reinforces the Australian native notes in Archie Rose Signature Dry Gin. Best matched with a snag on white bread while listening to Daryl Braithwaite.

Ingredients:

  • 450ml Archie Rose Archie Rose Signature Dry Gin
  • 600ml pineapple juice
  • 150ml lemon juice
  • 150ml lime juice
  • 200ml lemon myrtle & eucalyptus syrup (see below)
  • 20 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 150ml Mancino Sakura vermouth

Method:

Build all ingredients over ice. Garnish with lemon wedges.

To make a batch of eucalyptus and lemon myrtle syrup:

Bring 1 litre of water to boil, then add 1 kg of sugar, 2 teaspoons of lemon myrtle powder and 50g eucalyptus lollies. Let it steep for five mins, then strain with cheesecloth.
