    Whiskey blending

A group of friends and I took the whiskey blending class, led by Michael for a tour of their distillery and the fermentation process. He was enthusiastic, funny and passionate about their operation, as were the still masters who happily shared knowledge. Simon who led the blending was equally passionate and knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed learning about regionality and discerning our own preferences in whiskey taste. The evening felt warm, generous and inclusive. I get a sense that there's a great team here and look forward to my next visit.

    Highly recommended

This whisky blending experience is offered by Archie Rose Distillery in the inner Sydney Suburb of Rosebery.
The Whisky Blending experience is great for everyone, from those not toofond of whisky to the connoisseur. The tour begins with mild formalities, the of signing a waiver which is needed as you are entering an operating distillery.
We then enter the distillery and are given a brief history of whisky and whisky in Australia. We then get onto the grain, an important part of making whisky and one of the many factors that influence flavour. Archie Rose prides itself on quality ingredients and especially grain, we taste a few different grains and have some flavour profiles explained.
From here we move onto the equipment and the whisky making process where the story of Archie Rose is explained. It was kicked of by a 20 year old management consultant looking for a meaningful career. The inspiration came from a passion for whisky. From there, it is a story of trial and error and ultimate success, with the company investing in a 3000sqm operation in the nearby suburb of Banksmeadow. The brand looked to capitalise on its many international accolades to build a global household presence for Australian based spirits.
We are all full of information, then we are provided with a sample of their new make spirit, essentially grain based alcohol, that has spent under 2 years in a barrel. In Australia for this type of spirit to be called whisky it must spend 2 years aging in a wooden…

    Whiskey Blending Class

Came here for the whiskey blending class which was a fun and interesting experience.

The lighting is a little subdued but it adds to the ambience giving it a speakeasy vibe.

    Blend Your Own Whisky Experience

I bought this for my husband's birthday as he is a seasoned whiskey drinker. While we have done tastings across NSW and TAS, this was our favourite to date. Thank you Hannah for making the experience so fun and interesting. The 5 samples were so varied - something for every palate. Highly recommend. 💗🥃🙏

    Busy but so much fun

We went in about 2pm on a Friday and it was packed but the staff were so accommodating for a group of 11 people. The waitress was unbelievable and I say that seriously she took our entire order from memory.

I had the gin tasting paddle and the same waitress explained each gin and the gin was incredible and if curse we bought heaps

Love this place and highly recommend

The whole vibe is spot on

The whole vibe is spot on, from the decor to the staff, and the amazing quality of drinks!

It's not cheap, but you pay for quality. You can expect each cocktail will be unique, perfectly balanced and presented beautifully!

I also did an Aussie whisky tasting there which was really great. More than just trying some whisky, I got a full history & science lesson as well.

Their venue would be super cool to hire it for an event as well.

Booked the whisky tasting class for my partner’s birthday.

We attended the 12:30pm class yesterday with Rob and we both really enjoyed the class. Rob was very knowledgeable and his sense of humour made the class engaging and interesting. We learned so much about whisky in just one sitting, starting from how it’s made, the ingredients and equipments used in the distilling process, and terminology.

We highly recommend Rob and this whisky class for anyone that is a whisky fan or is interested to learn about the world of whisky. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and discovered which whisky we will definitely purchase - the limited edition Red Gum Whisky is our favourite which we got to test. To top it off, we were each given a 200ml bottle of the single malt whisky to take home. After the class ended, we walked across to the bar and tried another drink from the menu which was unique and lovely.

I would like to highlight how friendly and knowledgeable the staff were which made the experience extra delightful! We will definitely visit again because the gin tasting class has also caught our attention :)

A big thanks to Rob and the team!!!
