A Pair of Extraordinary Australian Single Malt Whiskies, Inspired by the Sydney Opera House
As an incredibly proud partner to the Sydney Opera House, we’re thrilled to have collaborated again to launch two new limited edition Single Malt Whiskies: Classical and Contemporary. Created to celebrate our shared passion for bringing extraordinary experiences to Sydney and the world, these whiskies pay homage to the diverse range of artists and music that have lit up the Opera House's stages over the past 50 years.
The Classical Whisky draws inspiration from the symphonic, chamber, opera, and choral music that has filled the Opera House for decades. Crafted from locally grown Australian malt, it honours the clarity and precision of classically styled Scottish and Japanese whiskies. On the nose, you'll discover freshly cut peaches, sun-dried grapes, Turkish delight, and shortbread biscuits with subtle notes of hazelnut praline and jasmine flowers. The palate offers a silky entrance of fruits, combining peaches, pawpaw and hazelnut butter on golden-toasted crumpets, finishing with a blend of fruits, custard cream, and drying spice.
The Contemporary Whisky embodies the vibrant spirit of modern music performances, showcasing Australian provenance and ingenuity. This whisky features locally sourced rare and speciality malts, capturing the essence of contemporary music that has illuminated the Opera House stages. Its nose presents honey-roasted macadamias, fresh pineapple and digestive biscuits, with subtle hints of mango, amaretto and violets. The palate begins with tropical fruit that broadens into roasted nuts, followed by milk chocolate-coated biscuits and Maillard cheese on toast, concluding with a broad and complex finish of roasted nuts, tropical fruits and dark cacao.
To make this whisky experience even more immersive, we invited whisky and music lovers to nominate their favourite contemporary and classical Opera House performances from the past 50 years. These selections were curated into playlists (both playlists are available on Spotify, here (Classical) and here (Contemporary) that our Sensory Team enjoyed while blending and perfecting the final whisky creations. Each bottle comes with a QR code on the Opera House-inspired label and gift box, allowing you to access these curated playlists and enjoy the ultimate sensory experience.

With only 5,000 bottles of Classical Whisky and 3,000 bottles of Contemporary Whisky available, these limited-edition releases are set to quickly become collector's items. They are available at the Archie Rose Bar & Cellar Door, Sydney Opera House venues, and Heinemann Duty-Free at Sydney International Airport. In addition, the Sydney Opera House is hosting four exclusive Tours & Tastings where guests will enjoy a cocktail, a tour of the iconic venue, and a private tasting of these extraordinary whiskies.
