Cinnamon Smoked Cask Single Malt Whisky
As part of Archie Rose’s ongoing commitment to producing truly original spirits, we are proud to introduce the Archie Rose Smoked Cask Series. For these limited edition whiskies, we’ve created four Archie Rose Single Malt Whiskies matured in casks smoked with some of nature’s most iconic botanicals. Each of the four whiskies in this series showcases a different natural ingredient: wattleseed, juniper, cinnamon, and lavender, each offering its own unique character to the whisky.
Usually, smoke is imparted into a whisky by smoking the grain. But for this special project, we wanted to try something different, instead smoking our whisky maturation casks to impart a more subtle aroma from these wonderful botanicals. We collaborated with one of Australia’s most respected coopers to gently smoke Archie Rose Single Malt Whisky casks with these botanicals, each imparting its own unique aroma into the oak before being filled with our rich single malt spirit for maturation. The result is a series of whiskies unlike any other, each infused with the delicate character of these botanicals, and each expressing itself in unique and unexpected ways.
Flavour profile
Nose
A comforting combination of toasted cinnamon quill, jarrah and vanilla combines with charred banana, grapefruitand jasmine blossoms. More time in the glass allows for sun-dried mango, chevril and roasted pistacios to come to the fore.
Palate
Toasted cinnamon quill, roasted marshmallow and charred pineapple provide a mouthcoating, oily mouthfill that opens into candied citrus, scotch finger biscuits and a pleasant warming sensation from the cinnamon.
Finish
The cinnamon heat provides great length and combines beautifully with tropical fruits, sweet spice and subtle smoke.
