Australian Malt Whisky
Australian Malt Whisky
Crafted from sustainably sourced, farm-grown heritage rye and barley malts grown in red earth under the deep blue skies of the Australian bush, this locally made and grown whisky boasts a bold yet refined personality. Complemented by maturation in French and American oak casks, the palate is smooth, balanced and approachable, revealing notes of vanilla and rich caramel.
The rye and barley malts that are used to make Australian Malt Whisky also underpin Archie Rose Single Malt Whisky (eight-time winner of Australia’s Best Single Malt) and Rye Malt Whisky (three-time winner of World’s Best Rye Whisky).
Tasting Notes
Nose
Opens on the nose with freshly cut pineapple as well as layers of fresh and dried citrus peel (grapefruit, orange and meyer lemon). As the whisky opens up a richer aspect makes itself known delivering salted caramel, malt chocolate, fire roasted hazelnuts, sticky date pudding, antique leather and sun dried sultanas. These more savory elements are offset by whipped cream and royal icing.
Palate
The palate is fantastically complex balancing the bright pineapple, banana and citrus flavours with figs, dates, milk chocolate and brown sugar.
Finish
The palate is evolving, long and with a precision that is supported by flavours of vanilla cream and belgian milk chocolate.
