Archive Stock - Smoked Heritage Rye Malt Whisky
$179Since 2014, we've archived a case or two of every Australian spirit we've produced at both our Rosebery and Botany Distilleries. To celebrate our tenth birthday, from 21 October we'll be dropping a limited selection of this archival stock via our website, giving you the opportunity to grab a final bottle of your favourite Archie Rose spirit.
Released in 2023 as the fourteenth release in the Trials & Exceptions series, Archie Rose Smoked Heritage Rye Malt Whisky showcases our ongoing exploration of Australia’s native eucalyptus trees and commitment to innovation, being one of the few smoked rye whiskies in the world.
Building on the Red Gum Smoked Single Malt Whisky and Stringybark Smoked Single Malt Whisky released in 2022, this whisky incorporates Australian native stringybark wood smoke. Using local heritage rye grain, it offers balanced sweetness, smoke, and rye spice, with flavours of campfire, grilled peaches, and prosciutto.

Local & Ethically Sourced Ingredients
As the latest expression in our quest to craft quintessentially Australian whiskies, Smoked Heritage Rye Malt Whisky uses both uniquely Australian grains and native timber for smoking.
By choosing the deeply evocative flavour of Australian wood smoke over imported Scottish peat along with locally grown heritage rye grain grown in NSW, a regenerative crop that uses little water and helps revive depleted soil, it also supports our sustainability goals.

Our pale malt speaks to the Australian land where it was grown, delivering tropical fruit flavours with floral overtones.

Virgin American Oak is renowned for imparting high levels of vanilla, sweet spices and coconut. The oak in these casks is air-dried then toasted and charred for us to help create our signature flavour profile.

Virgin French Oak is best known for having more available extractives and imparting a higher level of spice (think nutmeg or allspice) and also wood polish. Generally we toast these barrels but don't char them.
