$279This Single Cask release is a masterclass in the interplay between raw grain power and refined oak influence. Distilled with a high proportion of unmalted rye, this spirit has spent over three and a half years developing in a 250L Port cask. The fusion of fortified wine cask and grain character is exceptionally woven together to yield a bold, muscular whisky that carries its weight with a surprising lightness of touch.
On the nose, it commands attention with an evocative trio of aged cigars, Sichuan pepper, and nostalgic musk sticks, which eventually give way to the honeyed sweetness of orange poppyseed teacake, and the scent of an antique workshop. The palate is structured with surprising brightness and an oily texture.
Yielding only 272 bottles, this is a singular exploration of balance, offering a sophisticated profile that transitions seamlessly from aromatic spice to a refined, savoury fade.

Flavour profile
Nose
Opens with notes of aged cigars, sichuan pepper and musk sticks. Time in the glass unveils a complex layering of aromas including baklava and candied nuts mingled with the scent of an antique workshop.
Palate
Well structured yet surprisingly bright, with an oily texture that carries a complex array of flavours across the palate. There is sweet tobacco, madeira, orange and poppyseed cake as well as well brewed black tea.
Finish
The finish is dry and extremely long with black pepper adding texture and complexity to the fade. A muscular whisky which retains a lightness and poise that speaks of exceptional balance.
