Archie Rose's Single Malt Whisky Claims Double Gold in San Francisco and Gold in Asia
Archie Rose is proud to announce that our Single Malt Whisky has been awarded the prestigious Double Gold medal at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) in the USA. This monumental achievement was followed by a Gold medal win at The Drinks Business Asian Spirits Masters 2025. To receive such high-level recognition across two distinct global markets—the United States and Asia—reaffirms our Single Malt as a world-class spirit of the highest calibre.
The San Francisco World Spirits Competition is widely considered the most influential spirits competition in the world. A Double Gold medal is a rare and remarkable honour; it is only awarded when every member of the judging panel provides a Gold medal rating in a blind tasting. This unanimous decision by some of the industry's most respected palates confirms that our Single Malt is among the finest whiskies globally.
Similarly, The Drinks Business Asian Spirits Masters focuses on identifying the best spirits entering the vast and sophisticated Asian market. Judged by leading experts and trade buyers, a Gold win here highlights the universal appeal of our "six-malt" approach. For an Australian distillery to sweep these major categories in the same year is a testament to the maturation conditions of Sydney and the quality of our locally sourced grains.
Product Specifications:
ABV: 46% The Six-Malt Mash Bill: Pale Malt, Amber Malt, Caramel Malt, Aromatic Roasted Malt, Chocolate Malt, and a hint of Peated Malt.
Aging Process: Matured predominantly in 100L, 200L, and 300L Australian Apera (Sherry) casks, complemented by ex-bourbon and our own 36-month air-dried ex-rye casks.
Terroir: The humidity and maritime air of Sydney accelerate the aging process, allowing the spirit to extract deep, rich flavors from the oak in a shorter timeframe than traditional cool-climate whiskies.

Our Single Malt Whisky is a labour of love that breaks the traditional mold. While most single malts rely on one or two varieties of malted barley, our expression utilises six distinct specialty malts, each contributing a specific layer of complexity.
The Profile: Official judges described the liquid as "balanced, rich, and rounded with a long and lingering finish." On behalf of our Master Distiller, Dave Withers, we invite you to explore the nuances of this award-winning dram:
The Signature Serve: Whisky Sour
While a Double Gold whisky is best appreciated neat or with a splash of water, its robust character shines through the sophisticated interplay of lemon and sweetness in a traditional sour.
Ingredients:
60ml Single Malt Whisky
30ml lemon juice
15ml sugar syrup (1:1 ratio of sugar and water, if you feel like getting fancy, try some brown sugar)
2 dashes of Angostura Bitters
15ml egg white
Method:
One of the all-time, if not the all-time greatest cocktail of all time. This drink can substitute any spirit, you can have a gin sour, or a rum sour, or any other damn sour. You’ve probably had some version of this drink, whether you knew it or not. We’re immensely proud how good our Single Malt Whisky is in a classic sour.
Combine all the ingredients, dry shake (no ice) as hard as you can, add ice and shake again. You can also try the reverse shake, where you flip that on its head. Shake with ice, strain and shake without. But whichever school you belong to (and both produce great effects), you’ve got to put your back into it. You’re shaking it up, not rocking it to sleep. The purposes of shaking are many: to combine, to chill and to emulsify that egg.
