When Archie Rose Distilling Co. opened in March 2015, it became the City of Sydney’s first independent distillery and bar in over 160 years. As a long-held dream of mine the concept of the distillery was to not only design a range of authentic, world-class spirits and whisky, but to share the distilling experience with those who shared a similar passion.

With this spirit of collaboration firmly in mind, we were keen to explore a way of converting the personalised customer experience of the Archie Rose Distillery into an online format. In conjunction with our creative agency, Squad Ink, the Archie Rose Tailored Spirits offering took flight.

The Archie Rose Tailored Spirits range offers the opportunity to craft your own gin, vodka or whisky online, to be hand-made for you by our committed and skilled distillers in Rosebery, Sydney. It opens the door to an intuitive step-by-step process of personal, spirited expression and tailored distilling from the comfort of your smartphone.

You begin the simple, three-step Tailored process by first selecting up to five unique botanical distillates to add to your chosen spirit. Choose from ingredients such as Juniper Berry, Cassia Bark, River Mint and Liquorice Root. Next up is the intensity selection for each botanical, giving the spirit its unique flavour profile. And the final step is personalisation.

A bullet-style bottle inspired by the copper stills at Archie Rose is then filled with the custom spirit, adorned with a custom foil stamped label bearing customer name and spirit profile and sent off to be enjoyed in good company.

For the serious whisky enthusiast, the Tailored Whisky offering is pretty special. From beginning to end, the process allows personalisation of almost every aspect of the whisky making – from whisky selection (Single Malt or Rye) to custom casks (size, wood type), smoke influence to alcohol strength, the tailored Whisky journey is one you will own for years to come.

The final chapter in your whisky tale is an invitation into the distillery to assist in the brewing and distillation of your personalised brew.

Depending on the cask size, the maturation process can take up to 4.5 years and is expertly managed by our Archie Rose Production Manager and Head Distiller. With your cask personalised, an annual sample is despatched for your consideration, allowing you to compile a library of your whisky’s maturation. If required, the whisky may also be sampled at any time by appointment.

Finally, the mature-age, uniquely produced, one-of-a-kind whisky will be presented to you in a handmade wooden Archie Rose crate, with full brewing and distillation notes. Bragging rights galore!

The Archie Rose Tailored Spirits concept was created to be special and totally yours. Since launching Tailored Spirits in November last year, we have created over 4000 Tailored bottles for enthusiasts all around Australia.
