As founder of Archie Rose Distilling Co., it would come as no surprise that distilling is a pretty serious passion of mine.
Creating great spirits lies at our core as well as re-igniting Sydney’s rich history in distilling plus the sense of community that existed around the craft many years ago. Since inception, we have thrown open the doors to our inner city distillery – both literally and figuratively – and enjoyed sharing ideas around food, drink, art and culture.
So far this goal of redefining distillation and encouraging conversation has led us to us work alongside an exceptional range of local artisans and cultural hubs.
##SOME OF OUR COLLABORATIONS
We were privileged this year to team up with Carriageworks and Vivid Sydney for Sydney Table, a series of intimate, bespoke dining events. Each was hosted by a top Sydney chef and creative identity, allowing for some incredible evenings of food, wine and art. Guests were welcomed at each event with a River Mint distillate-spiked Archie Rose Martini.
Also at Carriageworks, The Night Market in June this year was a large-scale food and wine event featuring an exceptional range of NSW producers and Sydney restaurants. As one of the 50 stallholders invited to take part, we managed to serve up over 8,000 Archie Rose gin & tonics over the course of the event.
Our Archie Rose Signature Dry Gin was the gin of choice at last summer’s Pop Up Gin Garden in conjunction with the Grayson Perry exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in Sydney. We’re already throwing around some great ideas for next summer.
##SOME OF THE OTHER STUFF WE LOVE
Check out some of the other stuff we dig about cultural Sydney.
If you haven’t already check out Saporium, our neighbour and Sydney’s new urban marketplace. Home to Wholefoods House, Kingsmore Meats, Grain Bakery and Welcome Dose coffee roasters with Vive Cooking School at its heart, Saporium has markets every Saturday and is providing our local Rosebery and Green Square community, the fastest growing population in Australia, a fantastic place to hang out and enjoy artisan food, coffee and cooking.
Hanging at Carriageworks anytime is one of our favourite things to do. It plays host to a rolling schedule of some of the best art, music, theatre and events in Sydney, not to mention the Carriageworks Farmers Markets every Saturday. And of course the Sydney Opera House rarely puts a foot wrong when it comes to programming, location and the sheer thrill you get every time you walk up the steps.
At Archie Rose, we’re passionate about distilling. We’re also passionate about engaging with the innovative and inspiring individuals and businesses that help to weave the fabric of our local community. We look forward to continuing to share our stories.
